Who Are We?

National Association for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) – INDIA is a nonprofit organization registered as a trust with the Charity Commissioner, Mumbai. We promote the following mission and objectives.

Our Objectives

● To eradicate the stigma associated with mental illness in our society.
● To make available treatment and medication to all sections of society.
● To be a nodal agency to support the rights of persons who are or have been treated for mental illness.
● To help in the reintegration of people with mental illness in our society.

Our Mission:

To help in the eradication and treatment of mental illness in India by integrating and involving consumers, mentally challenged people, doctors, healthcare workers, Government and other sections of society.


It is proposed to give free membership in the first two years of operations. Sources of Finance would be through donations and fund raising.


It is proposed to establish a helpline for people with mental illness. The helpline would be 24 hours for relatives/friends and mentally ill people etc. Sponsorship from a Pharmaceutical company would be required.
